CUT MUSIC – Creating Understanding Through Music
About The Programme

The programme is designed to create understanding and growth around the realities of current youth culture, including issues related to violence, bullying, gangs, and future aspirations. Through engaging workshops, we provide young people with a safe space to explore these topics openly, encouraging them to reflect on where they see themselves in 10 or 20 years.
CUT MUSIC is a dynamic and impactful creative programme that empowers young people to express themselves through rap, songwriting, and music production.
We ask thought-provoking questions: What kind of life do they want to build? Do they dream of having a family? How can they make their loved ones proud? By raising their ambitions and fostering self-awareness, CUT MUSIC aims to break the cycle of negative influences and support young people in creating a brighter, more positive future.
Through creativity and honest discussion, we strive to inspire young people to make healthier choices, build resilience, and see beyond their immediate circumstances to a life filled with opportunity and hope.

Our Mission
At CUT MUSIC, we believe in the transformative power of music. Our mission is to build confidence, resilience, and self-belief in young people, showing them that they have the potential to shape their futures and be positive role models within their communities.

At CUT MUSIC, we believe in the power of creativity to inspire change and give young people a voice. Our workshops leave participants with newfound confidence, valuable insights, and a piece of work they can be proud of.

Testimonials
The final result once again is brilliant and sends a really positive message to not only the young people involved but their wider peer group".
Caroline has been an incredible supporter of CUT MUSIC. She shares our passion and belief in what we do, and her feedback reflects the transformational nature of these sessions. These projects have not only provided young people with a creative outlet but have opened up conversations that may not have happened otherwise. Feedback has been consistently positive from participants, educators, and community leaders alike.
We believe in the power of music and education to create safer communities. While we currently focus on knife crime, we are exploring programme themes around youth violence, exploitation, violence against women, bullying, and antisocial behaviour.
We’ve delivered this at Ruth Gorse Academy, Leeds (funded), and more recently through our own CIC funding. We’re excited to expand with new partners and opportunities.
